Servers, routers and other network switches are shaped like drawers so that they can easily be inserted into cabinets. The standard width of a cabinet is 19 inches (48.28 centimeters) and the height of the "drawers" is defined with the unit U (1 U equals 4.5 centimeters). In this way, each element occupies one or more U in the compartment. This division by modules facilitates maintenance operations.
